FOLKS, it’s all so sickeningly predictable. The OUT-OF-CONTROL TAX-AND-SPEND BUFFOONS running the Town of Sterling, rather than display a modicum of cojones by cutting the Town of Sterling’s exorbitant employee payroll and condemning and confronting the failing and incompetent Wachusett Regional School District’s ballooning payroll and budgets approved while the WRSD’s student enrollment plummets in a multi-year slide, intend to ram us—bend over and assume the position—by means of a 2027 Sterling Annual Town Meeting Warrant Article that, if passed, will fund Sterling’s town-wide trash removal–for decades paid for with your hard-earned property tax dollars– by means of a Sterling D.P.W. “Trash Removal Enterprise Fund” akin to the D.P.W. “Water Enterprise Fund” into which you pay directly for your Town-supplied water.
WHY DO THEY WANT TO DO THIS??? BECAUSE IF THE COST OF TRASH REMOVAL IS REMOVED AS A PROPERTY TAX-FUNDED EXPENSE IT WILL FREE UP NEW SPACE UNDER THE TOWN OF STERLING’S PROPOSITION 2 ½ PROPERTY TAX ‘LEVY LIMIT’ SO THAT THE OUT-OF-CONTROL TAX-AND-SPEND BUFFOONS RUNNING STERLING CAN FIND NEW WAYS IN WHICH TO WASTE YOUR HARD-EARNED PROPERTY TAX DOLLARS WHILE YOU ALL PAY THE STERLING D.P.W. DIRECTLY FOR TRASH REMOVAL AS YOU ALREADY DO FOR TOWN WATER. THAT’S A LOSE-LOSE SCENARIO FOR ALL STERLING PROPERTY TAXPAYERS.
